Nostalgia for daisies

Check out Georg Jensen's latest jewellery collection which is just really cute and fabulous featuring Daisies as an icon with a splash of washed out tones. I like it as I feel it has a very realistic fantasy element to it...in a very nostalgic way.

Weird

This is apparently an awesome shoe innovation for 2008, and it is the “painted shoe”. I don’t know what to say. I am sure there are many jokes and whimsical lines which can be applied to this context and yet I am speechless. I mean, wouldn’t it just be more worthwhile to buy a pair of Louboutins as opposed to painting your feet? This is just too weird for my liking. Thought you all might like to have a look.

Missoni bracelets

Want right now: Missoni bracelets

Forget rings and chunky necklaces, right now I am absolutely lusting after a Missoni semi-precious bracelet to dress up a basic outfit with. It has that extra burst of colour and texture which will add something fabulous to any look. They kind of remind me of those hard boiled sugar sweets. At least these are fabulous and Missoni and they are too pretty to eat, so I'm pretty sure that I won't be tempted to shove them in my mouth. What do you think?

juli vogue

Never before seen image in July Vogue Italia.

A question of first's.

I received a lovely email during the weekend about "Buying one's first designer handbag" and "which to choose?". I think it is a really cute question that everyone will think about one time or another. I remember my first designer handbag, it was a small Louis Vuitton white Monogram canvas Pouchette featuring the very funky (at the time, I was only 15) white and multicolour monogram. Funny enough, I still own it and will never forget begging my mother to buy it for me before stringing it around with me everywhere. And yes, that was my first designer handbag experience which led to a cascade of more designer handbag experiences after that. I think the most important thing when it comes to designer handbags is the question of "How much do you love it?" and "How often will you wear it?" and "Does it suit your style?" because the last thing you want is to splash out a few hundred dollars or a grand on something which you love but does not really suit the way you dress thus marginalising the-taking-out-of-this-handbag to special events and only some weekends thing which really does suck. I personally would do a classic design as a safe first choice. Think Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Mulberry and Prada etc. Overall, I guess that if you are willing to work and save for it, you learn the monetary and quality and craftsmanship value of the product making it far more valuable commercially and also much more valuable and meaningful personally which will always be a good thing.

Giving

Giving the one shoulder, the cold shoulder.

Is anyone sick of seeing a whole bunch of celebrities wearing the one-shoulder style? I have to admit that although I did love the look when it was first new, right now, I am hating the look because everywhere you look, you see it and it just isn't working for me. I suppose the day-dresses are quite nice but the evening wear ones, just plain boring now. There are only so many ways to wear the same style of dress in a different colour. Here I have found a few of my faves and not-so-faves. Just to let you know that I don't mind if you have a sudden urge to just run away like...now. You are in for a fashion rollercoaster ride. Don't say I didn't warn you.

bohemian

A lost bohemian.

Right now I am so in love with the idea of Romantic Bohemian Florals. This might be due to two reasons; one: Romance and Bohemian just seems like such a fantastical way of thinking, let alone dressing, or two: I just bought my very own rare Bohemian Woodstock dress from a vintage boutique and cannot wait for the next sunny day to wear it. Either way, I suppose it does make sense. There is something so romantic about dusty pastels, small florals, and everything else with the hint of a lost Bohemian. In short, it is really how I personally dress. Sort of. Obviously I have my days when I just have to put on the most sophisticated of all sophisticated outfits (just because I'm in the mood) but I will always let my hair down in the sense that I will have thin Suede beaded bracelets on, or a Pandora charm bracelet, or my hair will be messy and tousselled (a'la Kate Moss) or there will always be something about my look which is never really as high class as it should be. I suppose I just love the idea of a really non-chalant setting and high end designer clothes. Does that actually make sense? Or am I just giving myself an excuse to love this look?

Rain

Rain rain go away, come again another day.

I really don't know where exactly my readers are currently located. I, for one am in Australia and if you are also from Oz, you might have realised (well, actually its more of a slap in the face but anyway) it is so freezing cold every single day. Okay. Yes, I agree it is winter right now. But no, I don't agree why that should mean we are stuck wearing boring grey tones and why we should be spending our cash on this season stock when we would hardly be out wearing it. I find that winter is very 'whatever'. At the beginning of the season, I usually find that people dress up quite some bit for the weather. Think Burberry Coats, Balenciaga Cigarette skinny pants, Skivvies etc. But seriously! Have you noticed how this look sort of fizzes out by mid-season? Aka. Now? Well, I have. We tend to dress the same during the day. There really is only so many Winter shirts that I want to wear and there are only so many which I want to get in every effing winter colour. Would you agree? So, I say to sit back in your chair, grab a martini and enjoy the lovely swimwear sales online. I find it more constructive to your day and isn't that what we're always on about anyway? Moving forward and not being stuck in a style rut just because of the weather? Well, that's my belief anyways.

Little bow peep-toe

Little bow peep-toe.

Other than the classic pump and platform, I have always felt safe when wearing a pair of peep-toe heels. There is something so dainty, so feminine and just oh-so-fabulous about these girly classics. I will never forget the one time I went to a party and met up with my friends and coincedently we were all wearing a pair of peep toe platforms by different fabulous designers in the same shade of patent black leather. It really was quite a Kodak moment. My best friend is also a huge fan of the Peep toe heels and with her being an acoustic/rock musician; you would think that she went for the more edgier styles but no, peep toe heels really do bring out the girly and fabulous side of us all. However, I do remember that one time when everyone wore peep toe heels. It was really annoying and thus came in the Louboutin Prive Pump. So why did we stop wearing these fabulous heels? Because everyone started wearing them...and we can't have that.
