Glamour's 2010 Women Of The Year: The Best Dressed Celebs On The Red Carpet

We dare you not to be inspired by the courageous, hilarious, brilliant, brave, and incredibly strong women who were honored tonight at Glamour's annual Women of the Year awards. You may have already gotten the red carpet play-by-play from our Twitter earlier this evening, but there's loads more coverage to come from Smitten, TGITBD, and all of your other favorite bloggers who got to take part in one miraculously special evening (Steven Tyler, Bill Clinton, Tyra Banks, and Maya Angelou in one room--only at Glamour, dolls!). And before we get to all of that, we've got the little issue of...what they were wearing! Check out our picks for the evening's best dressed, after the jump.

Rihanna was presented with her Woman of the Year award by Iman, and before the supermodel had barely uttered the pop idol's name, the crowd of very young fans in the balcony of Carnegie Hall went wild. Rihanna came out to accept her award not from her seat, like most of the other honorees, but from backstage. "I was worried about getting up the stairs in this," she said of her customarily over-the-top gown by Stephane Rolland. "As usual, I decided to wear the tightest dress I could find!"

Honoree Stella McCartney had her own fashion issues to contend with. When she made her way up to the stage (where Yoko Ono, Olivia Harrison, and Barbara Starkey--AKA the Beatles wives--gave her one of the evening's best surprises), she covered her bum with the teeny tiny dress she designed herself and warned the audience, "Never wear a skirt this short!"

One of my favorite red carpet looks of the evening came from Marissa Mayer, vice president of search and experience at Google. She proves you can be a tech geek and a fashionista in this Oscar de la Renta skirt and top. She's been a couture collector and a serious style force for as long as she's been a major player in the technology field. Presenter Matt Lauer affectionately called her "the extremely accomplished hot chick from Google."

Whatever Catherine Zeta Jones has been sprinkling on top of her Wheaties in the morning, WE WANT SOME! The A-list actress has never looked better--and although you can't see them under her floor-sweeping Gustavo Cadile hemline, she had on a pair of bright cherry-red stilettos that took her look from gorgeous to positively perfect.

Maria Shriver never takes a day off from being first lady of California. The proof? When we asked her who designed her beautiful black lace strapless dress, she told us, "Monique Lhuillier--and she's a California designer!"

And speaking of ageless beauty...check out Iman in a super-chic feathered dress by Jason Wu. We recently did a post on "How to look like a million bucks in five easy steps," and you better believe she was the inspiration. But it's not all glamour all the time for her--she told us on the red carpet before the ceremony, "I'm a domestic diva! I'm a great cook and homemaker."

Okay, so we've been kind of obsessed with Kerry Washington's style since, oh, always. But seeing the radiant beauty in person (in a killer Fendi gown, to boot) totally cemented our girl crush. She also directed the evening's opening film--watch out, Spielberg!

1109andie-mac-dowell-woty_fa.jpg

When Andie MacDowell arrived and we asked her what she was wearing, she gave us a little look of panic. "You know what, I have no idea!" said. And then promptly turned around and let her daughter, on-the-rise actress Rainey Qualley, unzip her in the back to reveal the designer (it turned out to be Lida Biday). Now that is commitment to fashion, dolls!

1109amy-poehler-woty_fa.jpg

"Amy Poehler is a Glamour Woman of the Year because she wears gowns around her house," BFF Tina Fey joked in a video just before the comedienne received her award from Saturday Night Live's Lorne Michaels. In reality, Amy's as real as the rest of us--but she did get all dolled up for this occasion, in a sparkling gold dress by fellow honoree Stella McCartney.

1109serena-williams_fa.jpg

If I had Serena Williams's arms, I'd be rocking a one-shoulder dress, too. Her red hot number is from Pamela Rolland, and it's perfectly suited to show off her hard-earned bod--which Tyra Banks admitted to wanting to grab the first time she met the tennis ace. As for her style? "The girl has gotta look smoking when she beats your butt," Tyra said.

There you have it, gals...my picks for the best dressed women at the year's most inspiring event. Now tell me...whose dress did you like best? Which honoree are you most inspired by? Discuss!
